Continuous Improvement Engineer

We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our globally recognised client, focusing on identifying and eliminating bottlenecks using lean tools and a data-driven approach. This role is crucial in developing tools, techniques, and processes to enhance manufacturing operations concerning ergonomics, safety, quality, and cost. The ideal candidate will be proactive in promoting and initiating continuous improvement activities, adhering to safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Identify and implement process improvements, waste removal, and cost reduction by identifying non-value-added activities.
- Support and facilitate Kaizen workshops, lean events, Practical Problem Solving (PPS), and root cause analysis.
- Prepare and present improvement activities at the Lean Council using PowerPoint.
- Update and manage the improvement suggestion tracker, ensuring timely closure against target dates.
- Plan, facilitate, and execute continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coach on Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology.
- Continuously improve shop floor and transactional area processes by collaborating with various departments.
- Manage manufacturing workflows and resources, optimising facility layout in conjunction with the Production Management team.
- Use lean tools and a data-driven approach to reduce costs and improve quality, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
- Support CAPEX activities and assess the capability of new equipment, including onsite and offset trials.
- Develop and assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures and conduct risk assessments for new plant, equipment, and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Understanding of lean principles, tools, and techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, 8 Wastes, 5S, and Time Observations.
- Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar role, preferably within a CI-focused position.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques.
- Project management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI).
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g., mechanical, production, quality, CI engineering).
- Experience with 6 Sigma or equivalent methodologies.
- UK driving license.
